Russia puts forward peace conditions that no one can accept: Kovalenko explains the enemy’s goal
Russia is trying to derail U.S. peace initiatives by pretending to be ready for negotiations, while in reality preparing a new offensive.

As of now, Russia is deliberately putting forward conditions for a peaceful resolution of the war against Ukraine that no one can accept. Specifically, this includes the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from four regions.
This was stated by Andriy Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, during a broadcast on the "We - Ukraine" TV channel.
Kovalenko notes that the Russians, with their demands, are undermining the peace efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump and are trying to blame Ukraine for it.
"Russia is now putting forward conditions in this track that no one can consciously accept. This includes the requirement to withdraw troops from four regions, as Peskov mentions. They know Ukraine won’t agree to this. And in this way, they are trying to sabotage the peace efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump," the head of the Center says.
He also explained the enemy’s objective.
"And why all this? Because Russia has planned a summer military campaign, it has brought up reserves in equipment and personnel and has prepared offensive actions on several front sectors. In several areas, they have already intensified their assault operations," Kovalenko states.
He emphasizes that from the very beginning, Russia has shown it does not want peace, but has tried to blame Ukraine for that.
"Even though it is Russia that does not cease fire. Ukraine has long agreed to a comprehensive ceasefire proposed by the U.S. Russia still refuses to agree to it, does not want to stop the shelling, and continues attacking civilians. The sole culprit of the war is Moscow. They are trying to create the illusion that someone else doesn’t want to end this war," the head of the Center says.
