Russian drones in Poland: Sybiha warns against weak response

Russian drones once again entered Polish airspace. Andrii Sybiha warned that a weak reaction would only provoke Russia to escalate further.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister responded to the fact that during the mass attack on Ukraine, Russian UAVs crossed into Poland. He stressed that a weak response now would embolden Moscow and called for allowing neighboring countries to use their air defense systems to intercept Russian targets in Ukrainian airspace.

Sybiha wrote about this on the X platform.

“Russian drones flying into Poland during the massive attack on Ukraine show that Putin’s sense of impunity continues to grow, as he has not been properly punished for his past crimes,” the minister stated.

He emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin keeps escalating, expanding the war, and testing the West’s resolve. The longer he does not face a strong pushback, the more aggressive he becomes.

“A weak response now will provoke Russia even more — and then Russian missiles and drones will fly deeper into Europe,” Sybiha warned.

According to him, this situation makes it necessary to finally adopt a decision that would allow neighboring countries’ air defenses to intercept drones and missiles in Ukrainian skies, especially those approaching NATO borders. This step, he argued, is essential for collective security.

The minister also stressed the need to urgently strengthen Ukraine’s own air defense and better protect against Russia’s growing number of drones and missiles.

He added that sanctions against Moscow must be tightened without delay.

“Putin will take peace talks seriously only when faced with serious transatlantic pressure. The Russian war machine must be stopped — and it can only be stopped by strength, not weakness,” Sybiha concluded.
