Ukrainian authorities reached new agreements with American partners to enhance the country’s protection, and teams have already been instructed to urgently update the relevant security documents, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Telegram.
Talks with U.S. delegation
The president spoke about detailed and very positive talks with representatives of the United States. Participants included Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Lindsey Graham, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The sides discussed steps to strengthen diplomacy and broaden the involvement of European partners. Particular attention was paid to how quickly the world is changing and what new security challenges alliances are facing.
“We agreed to strengthen security guarantees, and I have already instructed our team to urgently update the documents to ensure strong security guarantees for Ukraine,” the president said.
Protection against renewed Russian aggression
Securing reliable guarantees and a clear understanding of allies’ future actions remains Ukraine’s key priority. Updated documents are expected to clearly guarantee a strong response from partners in the event of renewed Russian aggression.
Such security agreements should also make post-war reconstruction a realistic and workable prospect.
The Ukrainian leader stressed that representatives of the U.S. president were receptive to Kyiv’s position and ready to seek joint solutions and compromises.
The issue of a possible “Easter silence” was also discussed during the talks. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, such a step could send a powerful signal to the world that diplomacy can succeed.
