Ukrainian drones in NATO countries: Foreign Ministry comments on incidents
The Foreign Ministry explains why Ukrainian drones are falling in the Baltics and how allies are responding.
Heorhii Tykhyi
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has officially responded to recent cases of Ukrainian drones falling in the Baltic states. Kyiv remains in close contact with international partners to clarify all details.
The statement was made by the ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi at a press conference.
According to Tykhyi, incidents involving drones of various types have been occurring regularly in the Baltic states. Ukrainian diplomats are working with colleagues in Estonia and Latvia to investigate the circumstances of the latest incidents.
“In fact, incidents with drones of different types, unfortunately, have been happening consistently in the Baltic states, including this year, when police recorded similar cases. The events are linked to the use of drones. I can confirm that we are in contact with our partners and clarifying all the circumstances of these cases,” Tykhyi said.
Causes and diplomatic consequences
Regardless of the drones’ origin, Ukraine’s Baltic allies clearly identify the root cause. The Foreign Ministry stresses there are no differences with partners in interpreting the situation.
“We are in direct contact with our Baltic partners. I can say with certainty: all our Baltic partners have no doubt that these incidents are caused by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the war launched by Russia,” Tykhyi said.
Ukraine and Baltic representatives hold a united stance: such cases should prompt stronger international pressure on the Kremlin. The primary demand is the introduction of additional restrictions to help stop the hostilities.
“We are fully aligned that the outcome of these incidents should be increased pressure on Moscow and additional sanctions against Russia,” the spokesman concluded.
