President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared his readiness to meet Russian president Vladimir Putin “in any format.”
He made the statement on Saturday, August 23, after a conversation with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Zelenskyy said he had informed his South African counterpart about joint diplomatic efforts with partners aimed at ending the war, as well as “productive meetings” with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.
“Once again, I confirmed that I am ready for any format of meeting with the Russian leader… It is important that the Global South send the right signals and push Russia toward peace,” the Ukrainian President emphasized.
According to him, Moscow is once again trying to drag out the negotiation process.
“This war must be ended, a war that nobody ever needed except Russia. The killings and destruction must be stopped,” Zelenskyy concluded.
