Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar assured President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Budapest would continue supporting Ukraine as a country that has fallen victim to Russian aggression. At the same time, he stressed that Hungary's position on military assistance would remain unchanged.

The remarks were reported by LIGA.net.

According to Magyar, he held a brief meeting with Zelenskyy ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara, during which the two agreed to hold separate talks in the near future.

"Yesterday I had the opportunity to briefly speak with President Zelenskyy, and we agreed to meet in the near future," the Hungarian prime minister said on Wednesday, July 8.

Magyar also stressed that Russia is the aggressor in the war and that Ukraine has every right to defend its territorial integrity.

In this context, he said Hungary would continue providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine but ruled out any military support.

"We've said this many times: Hungary will not send weapons or troops to Ukraine," he said.
