The Kremlin made yet another «absurd statement» about Ukraine. According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Ukraine «has the right to exist» only if it agrees to Russia’s demands.

Lavrov said this in an interview with NBC.

In Lavrov’s view, Ukraine must «let go» of the territories Russia annexed, citing so-called «referendums» in Crimea, Donbas, and «Novorossiya.»

Lavrov also added that any «security guarantees» for Ukraine must take into account «Russia’s fundamental interests.» At the same time, he referred to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the «de facto head of the regime, ” questioning his legitimacy.

According to Lavrov, Zelenskyy’s presidential powers have allegedly expired. Nevertheless, Lavrov claimed that Putin is «ready to meet» with the Ukrainian leader, but that signing documents would require a «legitimate figure.»

In the same interview, the minister once again lied, claiming that Russia’s strikes are directed exclusively at military targets and that the civilian population supposedly does not suffer.
