Why the West won’t put boots on the ground in Ukraine: View from a Ukrainian officer
The West is unlikely to deploy troops to Ukraine out of fear of a direct clash with Russia. A Ukrainian officer says is a strategic mistake that drags out the war and risks emboldening China over Taiwan.

Neither Europe nor the United States is seriously considering sending their own forces into Ukraine, wary of sparking a confrontation with Moscow. That’s the assessment offered to Ukraine’s Espreso TV by Ukrainian Armed Forces officer Oleksandr Matiash.
He stressed that no foreign soldiers are expected in Ukraine beyond the international legion of mostly volunteer fighters from abroad, including many Spanish speakers.
«I don’t believe the U.S. or European states will send troops to Ukraine under any circumstances. They’re simply too afraid of a direct clash, ” Matiash said.
He is convinced that if the West had dared to open a second front against Russia, Ukraine could already be celebrating victory.
«If they hadn’t been afraid, this war would be over. Russia would have lost what it has. And China would think twice before backing Moscow. Instead, Beijing may now take the gamble of attacking Taiwan, and the U.S. might not be able to stop it, ” the officer warned.
