Russia will seek to use the worsening situation in the Middle East and a potential increase in global oil prices to boost its income, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
He said Moscow traditionally uses geopolitical instability to expand energy exports. At the same time, tools exist to limit these opportunities.
«Sanctions on tankers, on companies, on cargo operators, sanctions on captains and crews. And ensuring that these tankers are not allowed to continue operating — there must be a way to counter the tanker fleet. Not all of it, of course, that is very difficult, but most tankers, ” the president said.
He was referring primarily to stronger restrictions on the so-called «shadow fleet» that Russia uses to bypass sanctions and export oil.
