Transnistria could become launchpad for destabilizing Ukraine, political analyst says

If pro-Russian forces come to power in Moldova, Moscow could resume troop rotations, posing a threat to both Moldova and Ukraine.

Threat from Transnistria

The risk of Russia strengthening its military presence in Transnistria is growingю

This was said by Moldovan political analyst Andriy Andriyevsky, speaking on the Kyiv 24 television channel.

He stated that the military presence of Russia in unrecognized Transnistria could increase.

According to him, the Russian contingent stationed in this territory has not undergone rotation for over ten years. However, in the event of pro-Russian political forces coming to power in Moldova, the situation could radically change.

In such a case, restrictions on the movement of Russian military personnel could be lifted, enabling Moscow to renew its personnel and send new officers. The expert emphasized that such a development creates risks not only for Moldova but also for Ukraine, as it would allow the Kremlin to organize destabilization in Ukraine’s rear.
