5–6 hits: Russia targets DTEK power plants with ballistic missiles

This is no longer about Shahed drones or cruise missiles. In recent strikes, several Ukrainian thermal power plants operated by DTEK were hit by five to six ballistic missiles, according to Dmytro Sakharuk, CEO of D.Trading.

Some DTEK thermal power plants have recently been attacked by five to six ballistic missiles.

Interfax-Ukraine reported this, citing D.Trading CEO Dmytro Sakharuk.

“These are no longer Shaheds, no longer cruise missiles. Some of our TPPs were attacked by five or six ballistic missiles during the latest strikes,” Sakharuk said during a special session on Ukraine’s energy sector at the Kyiv Security Forum on Monday.

The D.Trading CEO says that the use of large numbers of ballistic missiles has become a key feature of recent assaults on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, making air defense reinforcement critically important.

“The recovery of the energy sector depends on how effectively we can defend ourselves,” he stressed.

According to Sakharuk, other prerequisites for rapid restoration include having spare equipment — including from similar power plants abroad — as well as sufficient funding from both internal and international sources, and dedicated teams of specialists.
