«Everything was firing, everything was burning»: Odesa residents recount overnight attack

Odesa residents affected by the Russian attack shared their experiences, describing the ordeal as pure horror.

«Novyny Live» reports on the situation.

«I was standing there, heard a powerful explosion, and people started screaming „help.“ They began running out,» one woman recounts.

Another Odesa resident could not hold back her emotions; she does not understand how to live now.

«Some kind of nightmare! I immediately fell on the children… Everything was blown out, where are we to live now? How are we to live now? It’s horror, just horror. The children were so scared… There was such a glow! The wall between the neighbor and me fell down, soon I’ll be just walking right in to visit her,» she says.

Eyewitnesses recall that a strong glow was visible, «everything was firing,» and then — a heavy fire broke out. Windows were blown out in the house and walls were damaged. Due to narrow passages, it was difficult for rescuers to reach the site quickly, but the flame was managed to be contained.

«The guys pulled the landlady out from under the rubble. If they hadn’t pulled her out, she would have burned,» the woman concluded.

Currently, people are clearing the rubble on their own and submitting applications for help under the «Unbreakable Odesa» program.
