Foreign Ministry responds to reports linking Ukrainians to sabotage in Poland

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry explains why suspicions against Ukrainians in Poland serve Russia

Recent incidents, including damage to the railway on the strategic Warsaw–Lublin route, which Polish authorities associate with two Ukrainian citizens, represent another attempt by Russia to launch hybrid attacks across Europe, using people with Ukrainian documents to conceal its own activities.

The Foreign Ministry reported this in a statement released on November 18.

According to Warsaw, the two individuals allegedly operated under the guidance of Russian intelligence. The Ukrainian ministry said it had taken note of the conclusions released by the Polish side.

«Russia is trying to blame Ukrainians for its own crimes. We are confident that our partners understand clearly: Russia itself is behind these sabotage acts, ” the Foreign Ministry stated.

The ministry stressed that the Poland incident provides further proof of Russia waging a wide-ranging hybrid war not just against Ukraine, but against Europe and its allies. Moscow’s aim, the ministry said, is to weaken partner unity and destabilize the security environment.

Ukraine has affirmed it is fully prepared to work with Polish authorities and relevant agencies of allied countries. This involves investigating all aspects of the incident, holding perpetrators accountable, and creating joint mechanisms to prevent similar attacks in the future.

The Foreign Ministry emphasizes that Kyiv will continue coordinating its actions with Warsaw and partners to counter Russian hybrid aggression and strengthen collective security.
