«Largest attack of the war»: Russia launches massive drone strike on western Ukraine

Russian forces launched a massive drone attack against western regions of Ukraine on May 13. As a result, a building in Uzhhorod was struck, while Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk faced the threat of additional attacks.

The situation in the regions was reported by city mayors and journalists through their official channels.

Drone strike in Uzhhorod

Journalist Vitalii Glagola reported an enemy drone hit in the Zakarpattia regional center.

«A „Shahed“ struck a building in Uzhhorod near the „Turbogaz“ and „Tabla“ districts,» Glagola stated.

Attack on Ivano-Frankivsk

Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv called the assault one of the largest attacks since the beginning of the war and urged employers to ensure the safety of their staff.

«The alert is ongoing; this is a targeted strike on western Ukraine. New drones are entering the airspace, and missile strikes may follow. This is likely the largest attack since the full-scale invasion began. I urge businesses and enterprises not to neglect safety measures and to allow employees to leave, ” Martsinkiv said.

Local channels also reported explosions in the city.

Russia’s attack on Lviv and the region

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi warned of the direct threat to the city, ordering citizens to remain in shelters and maintain information silence.

«Attention! An enemy drone in the direction of Lviv. Stay in shelters until the alert ends. Do not film or post the work of air defense,» Sadovyi emphasized.

In Zhovkva, an attack on a critical infrastructure facility left the entire city without power, according to Oleh Volskyi, Head of the Zhovkva City Council.

«A strike hit a critical infrastructure site in Zhovkva. The city is without electricity. Emergency services are working,» Volskyi reported.
