Throughout the night, the Russian army continued striking Ukrainian positions, proving that Moscow has not ceased fire on the front lines.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this on the morning of May 8.
According to him, by 7 a.m. the frontline had already seen more than 140 strikes on Ukrainian positions and 10 Russian assault attempts, with the heaviest fighting reported in the Sloviansk direction.
Russian forces also carried out more than 850 drone strikes using various UAVs, including FPV drones and Lancets, while reconnaissance drones remained active near frontline areas.
“All this clearly shows that there was not even an imitation of a ceasefire attempt from the Russian side. Just like yesterday, Ukraine will respond in kind today. We will defend our positions and the lives of our people. Russia must end its war, and everyone will truly see it once the path toward peace begins,” the president said.
