Russia launches massive strike on energy sector: Kyiv, Dnipro and Odesa partly without heating and water

During the night of February 12, Russian forces carried out another strike on Ukraine’s heat-generating facilities; Kyiv, Dnipro and Odesa were among the cities hit.

«Tonight Russia again deliberately struck Ukraine’s civilian and energy infrastructure. Kyiv, Odesa region, Dnipro, Sumy region and others came under massive strikes, ” the statement said.

in Kyiv the enemy once again targeted heat-generating facilities. The attack suspended heating supply to about 2,600 residential buildings in several districts of the city. Another 1,100 buildings remain without heating due to previous large-scale shelling and damage to the Darnytska combined heat and power plant. Water supply and sewage services are operating.

In Odesa, power outages have left about 300,000 people without water supply, while nearly 200 buildings remain without heating. Efforts are under way to restart systems where possible, with backup power sources being used where available.

In Dnipro, a large-scale attack cut heating supply to 10,000 consumers. The launch of an alternative heat supply source has begun, and modular boiler units are being activated for social sector facilities.

During the overnight attack on February 12, Russian forces struck a thermal power plant operated by the DTEK Group, causing significant damage to the facility’s equipment.

«Russia has again attacked a DTEK thermal power plant. The attack caused substantial damage to the plant’s equipment. This marks the eleventh large-scale attack on the company’s thermal power plants since October 2025, ” the statement said.
