Russia is preparing a new series of strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and all services must remain on maximum alert for further challenges, Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said after a meeting of the Energy Headquarters.
He said that although the energy system is currently showing signs of improvement due to warmer weather and 24-hour repair work, vigilance must be maintained, Shmyhal said.
“We have information that the enemy is preparing new strikes on the energy sector. The task for all services is not only rapid reconstruction but also maximum readiness for further challenges,” the Energy Minister said.
Denys Shmyhal says that restoration work is ongoing nationwide, with more than 200 repair teams in Kyiv working to restore electricity and heating. Particular focus remains on Odesa and frontline regions, where the situation is most strained. To bolster resilience, the minister is engaging support from international partners.
Following a visit by the Energy Ministry delegation to France, Ukraine secured agreements to attract 600 million euros to strengthen energy resilience, he said.
Engineers and technical specialists have been sent to Europe to inspect six facilities, equipment from which can be delivered to Ukraine as soon as possible,” he said.
Shmyhal also thanked air defense units for protecting the energy sector and repair crews working 24/7.
