Russian forces in Belarus and renewed offensive prospects: Border guard assessment

Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service says it is recording activity on the Belarusian direction, but there is no real and immediate threat of an offensive.

Border guards continue to monitor the situation, noting signs of developing infrastructure and logistics that could potentially be used in coordination with Russia.

The comments were made by SBGSU spokesman Andrii Demchenko.

According to him, Belarus is expanding logistics routes, training grounds and other facilities.

“This concerns the development of logistics routes, training grounds and infrastructure that could in future be used in coordination with Russia,” he said.

At the same time, Demchenko stresses that Russia is not currently maintaining forces in Belarus that would pose a direct threat to Ukraine. However, such capabilities remain, and Ukrainian security services and intelligence continue to monitor the situation.

“We must be prepared for various scenarios,” he said.

He added that Belarus is attempting to shift responsibility onto Ukraine and Europe, claiming that it is “under threat” and therefore needs “protection and support” from Russia.

“But this is manipulation and information pressure. Our task is to repel any attempts of invasion, especially possible provocations near the border aimed at escalation,” Demchenko said.
