Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi took part in the 30th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the “Ramstein” format. The discussion focused on the security and defense of both Ukraine and Europe.
Syrskyi shared the details on Telegram.
In particular, he thanked international partners for their support at a time when Russia is daily increasing pressure on the battlefield, intensifying air strikes, and terrorizing peaceful Ukrainians. He stressed that Ukraine highly values the efforts of leaders and diplomats working toward a peaceful settlement of Russia’s war against Ukraine on all platforms. However, he emphasized that the key to forcing Russia to sit at the negotiating table and achieve a just peace lies in military efforts.
There are two important points:
- the aggressor must be convinced that there is no sense in continuing the fighting;
- Putin must feel a real threat if the war drags on.
“In turn, the Defense Forces of Ukraine are doing everything they can — holding back the enemy on the eastern flank of united Europe, exhausting them on the battlefield, repelling missile and drone strikes on residential areas and critical infrastructure of our country,” the Commander-in-Chief noted.
Syrskyi also stressed that the Kremlin is now resorting to escalation, and this process would not be possible without support from the so-called "axis of evil," including Iran, North Korea and others.
That is why military and financial aid from Ukraine’s partners is now of even greater critical importance. This is necessary for the success of Ukraine’s joint strategy with Europeans.
“I called on partners to increase the volume of international military assistance, primarily to strengthen air and missile defense capabilities, and to provide long-range strike assets,” Syrskyi concluded.
