From the moment Russian drones crossed the border, Ukraine maintained real-time communication with Poland, enabling an «adequate response from the Polish side.»
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar stated this during a broadcast of Svoboda Live.
Bodnar commented on the downing of Russian drones in Poland on the night of September 10 during a massive enemy attack on Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine proposed to its allies in 2024 to shoot down such aerial targets over its territory, which would be «cheaper and safer» for NATO countries.
«The Polish side is now considering this option. Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski stated this today after a conversation with our Minister Andrii Sybiha. This issue is relevant for us, and now it has become relevant for Poland,» Bodnar reported.
He added that the incident with Russian drones, which led to the closure of Polish airspace and airports, demonstrated the importance of such measures.
The ambassador emphasized that Ukraine maintained contact with Polish colleagues from the first moments of the drone incursion, ensuring an «adequate response» from their side.
