President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed helping Poland shoot down Russian drones.
He announced this on social media.
Zelenskyy said he held talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The discussions primarily focused on Russian drones that were launched at Ukraine again this night and entered Polish airspace.
«Incidents with one or two Russian drones have occurred before in countries on NATO’s eastern flank, including a few weeks ago in Romania. But this time, a significantly larger number of Russian drones, with significantly greater audacity. Drones entered not only from Ukrainian territory but also from Belarus. And we all understand that this represents a completely different level of escalation by Russia. There must be an appropriate response,» Zelenskyy said.
Donald Tusk, for his part, provided information on the consequences and circumstances that have already been established. Debris from Russian drones, including Iranian «Shaheds,» was found in many towns and villages, Zelenskyy recounted Tusk’s words.
He urged his counterparts to work on a joint air defense system and create an effective air shield over Europe. The Ukrainian President also called on Europe to significantly increase funding for the production of interceptor drones.
Additionally, Zelenskyy offered Poland assistance, training, and experience in countering Russian drones, particularly «Shaheds.»
«We agreed with Donald Tusk on relevant cooperation at the military level. We will also coordinate with all NATO member countries,» he concluded.
