New military bases are actively being built in Belarus. One such facility was discovered near Minsk. According to journalists, ballistic missiles «Oreshnik» may be deployed there.

This was reported by Radio Svoboda’s project «Schemes.»

Possible base for «Oreshnik»

Special attention of journalists was drawn to a military facility near Minsk, the construction of which began in 2024. This military base is located south of Minsk — on the territory of the former Soviet base «Military Camp No. 25 Pavlivka.» Earlier, the Slutsk 306th Strategic Missile Regiment was stationed there, armed with Soviet medium-range ballistic missiles R-12, as well as mobile missile systems «Pioneer» and «Topol.» Later, after the collapse of the USSR, this Soviet base was completely destroyed.

Satellite images from August 2025 show that storage facilities protected by fortifications, three hangars for equipment, and foundations for other buildings, including personnel accommodations, have already been built in this area. In the satellite photos, journalists also noticed three more sites nearby, connected by roads, with partially built foundations of future buildings.

It is not yet known which unit of the Belarusian or Russian army will be stationed there.

«This may be a place where „Oreshnik“ will be stored, ” said Polish military expert Konrad Muzyka in a comment to the Belarusian service of Radio Svoboda.

New facility near the border with Ukraine

Another new facility appeared on the outskirts of the city of Homel, less than 40 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. Journalists assume this is a future military base. Potentially, a military brigade of about three thousand personnel could be stationed there.

Airfields

The publication recalled that in 2022 the Russian army actively used Belarus’s network of military airfields to station its helicopters, fighter jets, transport, and radar aircraft.

After the withdrawal of the main part of Russian aviation, Alexander Lukashenko’s regime began large-scale modernization of most of these facilities. These airfields include:

  • «Luninets» (Brest region),

  • «Lida» (Grodno region),

  • «Baranovichi» (Brest region),

  • «Zyabrovka» (Homel region),

  • «Machulishchi» (Minsk region).

Will there be aggression from Belarus?

«If Russia really plans a new large-scale invasion of Ukraine or one of the EU states from Belarusian territory, it will be impossible without a massive transfer of aviation to Belarusian airfields. The movement of aircraft and helicopters to these bases, as well as the deployment of additional air defense systems, will become an obvious signal of the Kremlin’s preparation for offensive actions, ” aviation expert Anatoliy Khrapchynskyi warns.

He calls to monitor not only the appearance of aircraft but also the development of defensive infrastructure — the construction of hardened shelters for aircraft, the installation of anti-drone nets over parking lots and equipment, and the arrangement of new fortifications for air defense.

«This will be a direct indicator that the enemy is preparing bases not for exercises but specifically for combat use under threat of strikes, ” the expert explained.

Meanwhile, Polish military expert Konrad Muzyka believes that Belarus does not have the resources to create an army that would threaten Ukraine or Poland. However, the danger comes from the Russian troops stationed there.

«From what we know, the Russians have surface-to-air missile systems there. They are constantly on high alert and patrol the airspace from the ground in case drones or missiles are used to attack targets in Belarus. And I think they will remain there for quite a long time, ” the Polish expert says.
