Ukraine has introduced scheduled power outages following Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and adverse weather conditions. The situation is most severe in regions close to the frontline, Ukrenergo reports.

Situation in the grid

According to Ukrenergo, as of the morning of January 26, consumers in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions remain without electricity following Russian strikes on energy infrastructure. Emergency repair work is in progress where security conditions permit. Energy officials said they are making all efforts to restore the damaged equipment promptly.

Ukraine has introduced power limitation schedules for industrial users and hourly outages for all consumers due to ongoing challenges in the energy system. In some regions, emergency blackouts have been enforced and will be lifted once conditions stabilize. Authorities are urging people to follow official announcements from their local energy providers.

Energy officials say that electricity conservation remains essential nationwide. Residents are asked to limit use of high-power appliances and, where possible, move energy-intensive tasks to nighttime, after 11:00 p.m., to reduce the duration of outages.

Ukrenergo also reported problems caused by severe weather.

«More than 40 settlements in Ternopil and Kyiv regions were partially or fully without power as of this morning due to extreme weather. Repair crews from local energy companies are already working to restore damaged lines, ” the company said.
