The Lyman direction remains critically tough, with Russian pressure at its maximum. Ukrainian defenders urgently need reinforcements to hold their positions.
This was reported by Captain Rostyslav Yashchyshyn, head of the communications unit of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a broadcast on KYIV24.
In his words, despite Ukrainian forces having held the Lyman direction for over two and a half years, the enemy is currently throwing enormous manpower into the sector, disregarding colossal losses.
«The situation is extremely difficult. Lyman needs reinforcements — more UAV crews, more infantry, extra forces to hold this vital settlement, ” Yashchyshyn said.
He stressed that the 63rd Brigade is «holding this territory with their teeth, ” even as enemy numbers keep rising.
Mercenaries from Africa
Yashchyshyn highlighted changes in enemy personnel. Russian forces keep sending fresh reserves even after previous groups are wiped out. Among the latest troops are young Black men with no documents.
«Uzbek mercenaries are gone. Now we see young Black men, apparently from Africa. They have no documents. We haven’t taken any prisoners. They are simply being eliminated, and there are no identifiers. But we suspect they are Africans, ” the captain said.
