Should the Belarusian army directly enter the war on Russia's side against Ukraine, the Defense Forces will have grounds to launch strikes against decision-making centers inside Belarus.

Kostiantyn Nemichev, deputy commander of the KRAKEN unmanned systems regiment, stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

According to Nemichev, Ukraine's defenses along the northern border are fully prepared for any potential threats.

“Our defensive line on the border with Belarus is prepared. If Russia and Belarus try to move against us, our drone units and infantry brigades will do everything to ensure that this column is destroyed along with its hardware and personnel. At that point, our hands will be untied to strike decision-making centers in Belarus," Nemichev stressed.

He added that the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, is well aware of the potential consequences of such a scenario.

"Lukashenko understands this, which is why he has been squirming in his chair for five years, not knowing what to do. We are demonstrating on the front line that we can destroy the enemy," the military official noted.

Nemichev also said that a repetition of the 2022 events, when Russian columns advanced through the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, is currently highly unlikely.

According to him, "hardware is no longer used in that format on the front line; the columns would simply be destroyed on the approaches."

At the same time, the commander does not see a large-scale threat to major Ukrainian cities from Belarus at present.

"There is currently no global threat to major cities from Belarus, given the size of the forces stationed there. They can accumulate resources, and attempts to enter border territories, small towns, and villages are possible. We must respond adequately to this threat, which is exactly what we are doing," Nemichev concluded.

He also warned that even after the war ends, Russia and its allies may continue provocations and troop build-ups near Ukrainian borders.
