Even if Slovakia stops supplying electricity, it will not affect the situation in Ukraine’s integrated power system, Ukrenergo says.

The company said Ukraine last requested emergency support from Slovakia over a month ago, and only in a very limited volume.

«Overall, emergency assistance from the Slovak direction has reached Ukraine’s integrated power system quite rarely. These were short-term supplies, ” Ukrenergo noted.

Despite statements by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, no official documents terminating the emergency assistance agreement unilaterally have been received from the Slovak transmission system operator, SEPS.

«Transmission system operators in Ukraine and Slovakia — NEC Ukrenergo and SEPS — are full members of ENTSO-E. Relations between them must fully comply with the organization’s established rules. Currently, a contract is in place between NEC Ukrenergo and SEPS for providing and receiving emergency assistance between Ukraine’s power system and Slovakia’s, ” the Ukrainian company said.

On February 23, Ukrenergo received a letter from the Slovak operator regarding revised payment conditions for emergency assistance. The Ukrainian side said it would review the proposal promptly.

«There are currently no restrictions on commercial electricity imports from Slovakia. Cross-border interconnection capacity is used according to auction results, ” Ukrenergo said.
