President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to a statement by US President Donald Trump about an agreement with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to halt strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities during freezing weather.
The Head of State wrote on social media platform X:
«An important statement by President Trump about the possibility of providing security for Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities during this extreme winter period. Power supply is a foundation of life. We value the efforts of our partners to help us protect lives, ” Zelenskyy said.
He thanked Donald Trump and confirmed that the talks in the UAE had focused precisely on this issue. Zelenskyy expressed hope that the agreements would be implemented.
«De-escalation steps contribute to real progress toward ending the war, ” he added.
In his evening video address, Zelenskyy once again thanked the American side «for efforts to halt strikes on energy infrastructure during this period.»
«We hope the United States can make this happen. There is a statement today by the President of the United States. The situation tonight and over these days — the real situation at our energy facilities and in our cities — will show how things stand, ” the Head of State concluded.
