President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not oppose holding elections in 2024 but pointed out a series of problems with their organization, particularly in the occupied territories, on the frontlines, and abroad.

The corresponding statement by the Ukrainian leader, made at the opening of the annual Yalta European Strategy meeting on Friday, September 8, in Kyiv, was quoted by "Interfax-Ukraine."

Zelenskyy primarily emphasized that many Ukrainians ended up in the occupied territories after February 24, 2022.

He rhetorically asked: "All Ukrainians in the occupied territories are very important... What should we do primarily with them? How will they be? How will they express their will?"

Additionally, according to the President, it is necessary to ensure the opportunity for Ukrainian soldiers to vote because those "in the trenches on the front lines are defending people's rights but won't have the right to vote themselves."

In this context, Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned the work of international observers during the elections.

"We want the elections to be democratic, there should be observers, but how will they be in the trenches?" Zelenskyy questioned.
Finally, problems may arise during the voting of Ukrainians who were forced to leave the country after the start of the full-scale invasion.

"There are millions of people abroad. How will they vote? We don't have the infrastructure. So, we need to engage the appropriate infrastructure of other states," he noted.
