Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a peace agreement must be more than just formal commitments on paper. Ukraine will insist on real security guarantees.

He made this statement in an interview with Fox News.

"I know that President Trump is not very happy about NATO – we talked about this. But we need security guarantees," the Head of State said.

Zelenskyy is convinced that without collective security guarantees, European guarantees alone will not be enough. This issue has been discussed previously.

According to the Ukrainian leader, European countries understand that without the involvement of the United States and President Trump, security guarantees will remain insufficient.

"Unfortunately, Putin is not afraid of Europe. That is why we need real security guarantees," Zelenskyy emphasized.

The Ukrainian President also mentioned that he had discussed with Trump a past mistake made by Ukraine – giving up its nuclear weapons and signing the Budapest Memorandum.

"None of the memorandum’s signatories actually supported us. No one cared about us," Zelenskyy stressed.
