An expert identifies Russia’s next target after capturing Velyka Novosilka

The Russians have suffered heavy losses on the front.

War.

War.

Currently, the Russian occupiers are likely implementing stabilization measures on the territory of Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region. During the spring-summer offensive, the Russian army will attempt to take full control of the region.

This was stated by military expert and former spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vladyslav Seleznyov, on the air of "Novyny.LIVE."

"Putin is now focusing his efforts on Donetsk region. He launched his so-called "special military operation" in February 2022 to fully occupy Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In Luhansk, this goal has been nearly achieved, with only a few percent of the territory still under Ukrainian control. In Donetsk, however, he still has a long way to go," Seleznyov said.

According to the expert, the Russians will try to execute the bulk of their plan for total occupation of the Donbas during their spring-summer offensive. To achieve this, they need to establish staging grounds now. Likely areas include the Lyman direction from the northeast, the Chasiv Yar area from the east, and the Toretsk area from the south.

Seleznyov emphasizes that Russian forces are suffering heavy losses, which is gradually diminishing their offensive potential.

"The answer to how the enemy will act in the near future depends directly on what resources they have available to carry out their missions," the military expert added.
