Since December 20, the Russians have been intensively shelling Kherson and the region. In particular, the cancer dispensary in the village of Antonivka was damaged, but no one was harmed in the hospital. Electricity supply has been restored in the city, but trolleybus wires remain damaged.
This was reported by "Hromadske Radio."
The right bank of Kherson and the region is under massive shelling. The most intense shelling occurred on December 20. It started around 5 a.m. and lasted for over an hour. According to the authorities, about a thousand shells were fired during this time.
In the morning, there was shelling with artillery and multiple launch rocket systems. In the evening, the occupiers continued their attacks, using aviation to strike Kherson. One of the strikes hit the cancer dispensary in the village of Antonivka near Kherson. It was partially destroyed, but fortunately, there were few people inside, and those present took shelter.
It was a modern medical facility built in the 2000s. Recently, it had been attacked multiple times by drones, but the dispensary continued to operate. According to Mykhailo Batrak, there is not a single hospital left in Kherson that has not been damaged by Russian shelling. Despite this, medical services continue to be provided in the city.
Initially, part of the city was without electricity, but it was gradually restored. Heating supply is also functioning without interruptions. Trolleybus wires were damaged, so some transport in Kherson is currently not operating. Utility services and local residents are cleaning up the area from debris, including broken windows.
"Hromadske Radio" notes that people have been leaving Kherson for the past two years, but mass evacuation is not happening now. After December 20, people whose homes were heavily damaged have moved to other places. However, most of the population has been living under shelling for two years, so they have decided to stay in their hometown.
"Therefore, there is no mass evacuation from Kherson, but it continues. Periodically, people make the decision to leave and do so," the report states.
Many internally displaced persons are also in Kherson, having moved there from even more dangerous areas of the region. There are accommodation points for IDPs in the city and neighboring regions.
