Lana Zerkal, a member of the coordinating committee of the Ukraine Facility Platform, states that the situation in Ukraine's energy system remains challenging. Some power plants have been hit by Russia up to 20 times.
She shared this information in an interview with "Ukrainska Pravda."
"The situation is very difficult, and it cannot improve quickly. It's not just about putting a band-aid on it. It's a matter of significant efforts to not only restore but essentially build a new system," Zerkal said.
According to her, Ukraine has lost almost all of its maneuverable generation capacity. Zerkal emphasizes that the repair of power plants will depend on companies like DTEK being confident that nothing will fly in during the restoration, and that these repairs will yield some results.
"All these plants have been targeted. Some have been hit up to 20 times. And if we do not have sufficient air defense and closed skies, it will be an endless cycle of restoration-destruction-restoration," Zerkal added.
