Due to the scale of destruction, it will take a long time to restore energy facilities - DTEK

The significant scale of destruction hinders the rapid restoration of the energy system after the recent shelling, and repairing some of the damaged energy facilities will take a long time.

DTEK's Executive Director, Dmytro Saharuk, said this on the air of the telethon.

"As for the restoration timelines, unfortunately, due to such systemic and serious damages, we cannot talk about a quick restoration. Many people are working on the restoration, but due to the scale of destruction, this process will take not just weeks. For some facilities, it will take months or even longer," he said.

Saharuk explained that large equipment such as transformers, generators, and turbines is not simply kept in stock because it is usually manufactured as a single unit for specific needs and projects.

The Executive Director of DTEK noted that there is also high-tech equipment that is not manufactured in Ukraine and needs to be sourced abroad.

He added that because of this, it is necessary to consolidate the efforts of all participants in the process of restoring the energy system: energy companies, ministries and donors who have provided and continue to provide aid. Wthout it, relying on full restoration would be extremely difficult.

It is worth noting that on March 22, Russia massively attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure. As a result, Rinat Akhmetov's DTEK lost approximately half of its capacity.
