Russia could carry out attacks on Ukrainian nuclear power plants using 200-300 strike assets simultaneously.

This was stated by the chief editor of Defense Express, Oleh Katkov, in a comment to "Espresso."

"Regarding the capabilities and reserves of the enemy’s strike means, if the Russians indeed attack our nuclear power plants, it will be a maximally concentrated strike. Likely, the strike will target infrastructure rather than the power units themselves, aiming to incapacitate the nuclear power plants. Nevertheless, it will still be an attack on a nuclear facility. For such an attack, the Russians may use over a hundred various types of aircraft. Drones will likely be deployed to overload our air defense systems. Additionally, cruise and high-speed missiles like the "Kinzhal" will be used," Katkov noted.

He emphasized the importance of understanding one thing - any air and missile defense can be overwhelmed, no matter how dense it is. Therefore, the Ukrainian air and missile defense systems may struggle against such a mass attack.

"There are always questions regarding the missiles loaded in the air defense systems and the sheer number of those systems. Even if we allocate one Patriot system to each of our nuclear power plants, it still needs protective systems. Despite all this, due to the number of strike means the enemy can employ, air and missile defense systems might not be able to intercept all these aircraft," the expert stressed.

Oleh Katkov adds that the Russians undoubtedly understand this. Therefore, there is a high probability that they will use 200-300 missiles and UAVs simultaneously for attacks on Ukrainian nuclear facilities.
