The number of foreign troops in the peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine depends on the tasks they will perform and how many participating countries will join the mission.

This opinion was expressed by military analyst Denys Popovych in an interview on the "Kyiv24" TV channel.

According to him, the size of the peacekeeping contingent will first and foremost depend on the tasks assigned to it, particularly how it should act in the event of a ceasefire violation.

"If these are combat tasks, the numbers will need to be large — 100,000 to 200,000. If the contingent will perform police functions, that's a completely different configuration and capacity. We need to understand what task this contingent will carry out," the expert explained.

Additionally, Denys Popovych believes that the number of soldiers in the peacekeeping contingent will depend on how many countries participate.

"If 2-3 countries are involved, the numbers will be one way, depending on what each country can contribute. If there are ten countries, the situation changes," he noted.

The military analyst believes that there are still many unknown factors that make it impossible to predict the exact numbers.
