"Human shield": Russia creates conditions for children from other countries to rest in Crimea

Ukraine has called on countries around the world not to send children for vacations to the annexed Crimea, as the aggressor country may use them as a human shield.

The statement was made by the Ukrainian Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, Iryna Vereshchuk, as reported by Krym.Realii.

As Vereshchuk pointed out, there is currently no information on whether other countries are ready to send their children to the Russian-occupied peninsula.

"I appeal to the governments of foreign states and urge them to take immediate measures to ensure that their citizens, especially children, do not stay in the territories temporarily occupied by Russia," she stated during a broadcast of the Ukrainian national telethon.

The Minister emphasized Russia's promotion of summer vacations in Crimea.

"I will say once again that this is the creation of a human shield, especially before a counteroffensive, before the actions that our armed forces will take," the Minister explained.
