Intelligence Official Names One of the Conditions for a Ukrainian Counteroffensive
Currently, it is harder for Ukrainian troops to hit Russian ammunition depots and logistics centers because the enemy is forming depots 80-120 kilometers from the front line.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces need longer-range missiles before Russia sends reinforcements to its occupiers at the front in Ukraine, as Deputy Chief of Ukrainian Defence Intelligence Vadym Skibitskyi said in his interview for CNN.
Skibitskyi explained that Russian military depots were currently located 80-120 kilometers from the front line, and Ukraine needed longer-range artillery to strike them. According to him, long-range artillery is also needed so that Ukraine can launch a counteroffensive before Russia brings in reinforcements.
" If you ask what’s critical for the Russian Federation, the centers of gravity are these very hubs, and they need to be struck in order to disrupt the supply systems of all kinds," Skibitskyi said.
Instead, enemy troops have already begun to move military supplies across the Russian Federation, including through the Crimean peninsula to the southern regions.
" In order to prepare a counteroffensive or offensive operation you need to destroy many installations, not only on the front line, but also deep behind, 100-150 kilometers behind the enemy lines. Especially now, to form strong strike groupings we require tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, heavy weapons that would enable quick counteroffensive operations against the enemy," Skibitskyi added.
