Invaders Are Actively Preparing: Expert Explains Where and When Russia's New Offensive May Begin
Currently, the weather conditions do not allow either the Armed Forces or the invaders to conduct active operations.
Russian troops are concentrating reserves on the border with Ukraine in the Belgorod and Kursk regions. In case of a repeated offensive, they may move towards Kreminna in Luhansk Region. Perhaps, there also will be an attempt to attack Kharkiv region, as Viktor Yahun, a military and public official, Major General of the Security Service of Ukraine, former Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, said on the air of FREEDOM.
"Yes, it’s true, Russians are concentrating reserves on the border with Ukraine in Belgorod and Kursk regions. In case of a repeated offensive, they may move towards Kreminna in Luhansk Region. They may also attempt to actually attack the Kharkiv Region, but I don't think our military leadership disregards these threats," Yahun explained.
According to him, the invaders have failed to succeed in Zaporizhzhia sector and are actively trying to counteract a possible Ukrainian offensive.
The situation is similar in the Donetsk and Luhansk sectors. There, the enemy is currently forming strong positions and pulling up not only units from other front lines, but also armored vehicles that they have been able to accumulate and assemble.
Yahun believes that the invaders are actively preparing for the end of February." However, according to him, everything depends on the weather.
"They did not expect, by the way, as we probably did, such a warm winter that it is really impossible to use heavy military equipment for breakthroughs in certain areas. The soil is not frozen. Perhaps there will be some more February frosts. I don't know, maybe the temperature may decrease in late February or early March. So everything will depend on the weather. At this stage, the situation on the battlefield is very difficult not only because there may be an offensive, but also because the weather conditions do not allow either our side or the enemy to actively use equipment off the roads," the Major General added.
