Russians are trying to open a new front in the Zaporizhzhya direction to try to draw Ukrainian reserve units into the battle, as Polish General Waldemar Skrzypczak, who commanded the Polish Army in 2006-2009, told in his interview for Wiadomosci.wp.pl reports.
"The battle for Zaporizhzhia fits into Russia's earlier plans to seize the region. Now we may be talking about an auxiliary strike, the task of which is to attract Ukrainian reserves. This, in turn, will create favorable conditions for the main Russian offensive, which is planned from the north. This is a trap to draw Ukrainian units into the battle," General Waldemar Skrzypczak said.
The Polish military officer suggested that the Russians will try to "cut off a part of the country east of the Dnipro River."
"It will be a strong blow from the north. Russian troops are deployed more than 300 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. They have not moved yet, but it may take them only two days to take up their original positions. Therefore, the Ukrainian military should closely monitor the situation," warned Skrzypczak.
In turn, the Ukrainian military confirms that Russian attempts to advance in Zaporizhzhia are not large-scale and have not been successful so far.
