Kremlin Continues to Make Efforts in Order to Force Ukraine into Negotiations on Russian Terms – ISW
Russia seek to compel the West to offer preemptive concessions and pressure Ukraine to negotiate on the terms favourable for Kremlin.
The Kremlin will likely continue information operations to seek to compel the West to offer preemptive concessions and pressure Ukraine to negotiate, the analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War believes.
According to the experts, The Kremlin routinely portrays Ukraine as a Western pawn that lacks any actual sovereignty in decision-making. In this way, Moscow attempts to deprive Kyiv of opportunity to directly participate in future negotiations.
The ISW analysts assume that that Moscow in its appeals constantly criticizes Western countries, rather than Ukraine itself, for the continuation of the war. Thus, the Kremlin wants to drag the Western countries to the negotiating table.
Russia also constantly reiterates that it is the Ukrainian side that prolongs the war, and it constantly emphasizes the fulfillment of its conditions. The purpose of such statements is also aimed at Western politicians, so that they put pressure on Kyiv, demanding to negotiate on favorable terms for Moscow.
