The nuclear blackmail fell by the wayside after Moscow had received a clear message that this was not a joke.

Nuclear Blackmail Falls by the Wayside: What Else Russian May Use against Ukraine

TSN.ua asked Russian opposition activist and lawyer Mark Feygin what other levers of influence Russia still has in the war against Ukraine and how the invaders may prepare another offensive operation.

"He withdrew (nuclear blackmail - Ed.) because it Moscow received a clear warning to stop joking with it. No one needs it at all. America has warned them that they all might be killed as a result. Moscow’s behavior is leading exactly to the threat of proliferation of nuclear weapons. After a war like this, everybody understands  that if Ukraine had nuclear weapons, it wouldn't have been attacked," he said.

According to Feigin, the only option Moscow still has is another attempted offensive operation in the northern part of Ukraine.

"They may attempt to attack the weapon supply chains in Volyn and possibly Kyev. This possibility cannot be ruled out. They may recruit more people for this operation, and everything else would be a distraction. Let’s make one last run and see if we can get to Kyiv, they may think, so wouldn't rule that this possibility. But what else is left in stock? More bombings of Ukraine with ballistic missiles and drones? Well, it’s like a straw for a drowning man...I'm sure that Ukraine has prepared strong positions in the north, and there has to eb something more than just blown up bridges and landmine fields. I think Ukrainians are preparing a nice little trap there, so there is nothing good for Russian to expect," Feygin said.
