Offensive on Avdiivka: Zhdanov explained how important the city is for the Russian army

The situation in Avdiivka worsened.

Avdiyivka in Donetsk region, which the Russian army is trying to surround, is not of particular strategic importance. The city is important for Russia in the course of an offensive operation, because it is a bridgehead.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov explained this in a comment to TSN.ua.

According to him, if the occupiers capture the city, they will push Ukrainian troops away from Donetsk. In addition, in this case, the Russian army will move forward, closer to the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"That's all. It doesn't have such a strategic significance. It doesn't have an operational significance today. It's just like Bakhmut. This is a city, our city, and they just continue to capture the territory," Zhdanov noted.
