On the evening of April 24th, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy traditionally addressed Ukrainians and spoke about the main events of the day.
Visit of the Prime Minister of Estonia
Zelenskyy visited Zhytomyr region together with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
"Negotiations, signing of the Joint Declaration. I am grateful to the Prime Minister and the entire people of Estonia for their clear and unwavering support for our movement into the European Union and NATO - the relevant points regarding the Alliance are in the declaration," the Head of state said.
The parties paid the most attention to defense issues. Zelenskyy emphasized that Estonia is among those whose aid to our defense is the fastest and largest, if you look at the ratio of the amount of aid to the country's GDP.
"We also discussed the decisions regarding weapons and ammunition, which are still being implemented by our other partners in the European Union. The case when people's lives directly depend on the speed of delivery, on the implementation of already adopted decisions. I thank Estonia for its readiness to contribute in the relevant communication with other partners," the President said.
He explained why Zhytomyr was chosen as the location for the negotiations. According to the President, the reconstruction project was implemented in the Zhytomyr region. In the city of Ovruch, Zhytomyr region, the reconstruction of a kindergarten should be completed by June 1 - with the help of Estonia.
"This project will be further expanded. There are other reconstruction projects - I am sure we will implement them all," the Head of state assured.
Meeting with students
Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University, where he talked with students.
"A great university - one feels that they really care about students. They care about Ukraine - taking into account how the university prepares various specialists for the country.
"Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting at the Polytechnic University, who asked questions, and who sincerely reacted to the answers. It was a good, energetic conversation. This is exactly what we are fighting for now for all of Ukraine - so that all our children, all Ukrainian students, in every part of our country can feel free, enjoy their freedom, get an education, and realize themselves in life as they want. And it will happen. Ukraine will defend its freedom," the President said.
Energy and infrastructure
Zelenskyy also held a special coordination meeting in Zhytomyr "with all those responsible for the region." At the meeting, the issues of security, economic and social situation in the region were discussed in detail.
"There is a solution, in particular, regarding the restoration of the energy industry after the Russian strikes. And we are already preparing our energy sector for next winter," the Head of state said.
