Russia Attacks Ukraine with Missiles Intended for Nuclear Warheads – Chief of Intelligence

Currently, Russian is using long-range bomber aircrafts equipped with mostly old Soviet-era missiles, as Kyrylo Budanov, the Chief of Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, explained in his interview fir RBC-Ukraine.

"So what changed after the Russian government appointed new commander? Now they actively and massively use range bomber aircrafts, such as Tu-22M3 mostly equipped with Soviet-era missiles. These are not just outdated Soviet Kh-22 missiles, these are missiles initially intended for nuclear strikes. Their precision tolerance is around one kilometer, and it was considered pretty good performance for this kind of weapon. These missiles are intended for nuclear strikes, and they use them with conventional warheads. That's the whole answer. Generally, they just cannot achieve the precision that they would like to demonstrate," Budanov said.

ВHe also added that Ukrainian intelligence has the data regarding the remaining quantity of missiles in Russian stock, however this information is not for public disclosure.

"Will the missile strike risk continue in long-term perspective? Well, unfortunately, at the given stage it is still highly relevant”, he summarized.
