"As of early July, Russia is deploying a ground force of over 700,000 personnel to conduct combat operations against Ukraine," the Foreign Intelligence Service reported.
According to Ukrainian intelligence estimates, compared to May, the number of occupation troops increased by 60,000, and compared to November 2024, by 120,000.
Additionally, units of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya), numbering up to 35,000 personnel, are actively involved in operations on temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories and in Russia’s border regions (Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod).
Earlier, in May 2025, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported 640,000 Russian military personnel on the front. In March, according to the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence, the number of Russian troops was 620,000.
Thus, over the past eight months, Russia has significantly strengthened its presence on the front, increasing offensive resources and the concentration of troops in key directions.
