Russia «reports» capturing Basivka in Sumy region: State Border Guard Service reveal the real situation
The Defense Forces fully control Basivka in Sumy region, border guards assure.
The situation in Sumy region
The village of Basivka in Sumy region remains under the complete control of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
This was stated by Andriy Demchenko, Spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, on the air of the telethon broadcast, refuting claims by Russian propagandists about the village’s capture.

According to him, Russia continues its disinformation campaign and attempts to break through Ukraine’s defenses.
«The Russians’ tactics remain the same — small assault groups crossing the border. We often spot such groups trying to break through, including on quad bikes. Essentially, using vehicles, their goal is to penetrate as deeply as possible into Ukrainian territory. This applies to the settlement of Basivka as well. They want to accumulate forces there and establish a foothold,» he said.
Demchenko emphasizes that Basivka is fully under the control of Ukraine’s Defense Forces. At the same time, he does not rule out Russian attempts to expand the zone of active combat along the border, particularly within Sumy region.
«This is over 530 kilometers. We must be prepared in all directions to counter enemy assault groups, sabotage and reconnaissance units, or other larger forces. For this, each component of the Defense Forces of Ukraine has its own line of defense and is fortifying positions so that it is easier for the soldiers to hold back the enemy in all sectors,» Demchenko summarized.
