On the night of August 30, the aggressor, Russia massively struck Kyiv with drones and cruise missiles. The capital has not experienced such a powerful attack since spring.

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) analyzed the attack in their report.

American experts with reference to the Armed Forces write that the occupying Russian forces launched 28 X-101, X-555 and X-55 air-based cruise missiles from aircraft operating from the Engels air base in the Saratov region and the Caspian Sea, as well as 16 Shahed 136/131 drones from Krasnodar and Kursk regions.

"The air defense forces successfully managed to destroy all 28 cruise missiles and 15 drones. More than 20 aerial targets were shot down in the skies over Kyiv alone.

"This Russian strike was significantly larger than other Russian strikes in recent weeks. It is likely in retaliation for Ukrainian strikes on Moscow and Pskov regions earlier in the night," the ISW report states.
