Russian troops have stepped up efforts to expand the combat zone in the border areas of Sumy and Kharkiv regions. The heaviest pressure is now recorded on the Vovchansk direction in Kharkiv, as well as in the Khotin and Yunakivka communities in Sumy region.

Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko said this on the air of the telethon.

According to him, the enemy is attempting to involve new sections along the state border in combat, but without using heavy equipment.

Beyond the border areas, Ukrainian State Border Guard Service units are also involved in repelling attacks on the Pokrovsk, Lyman, Kramatorsk and Kupiansk fronts.

Demchenko says that in Sumy region, Russian forces are attempting to expand the combat zone in the Khotin and Yunakivka communities, and are trying to advance near Hrabovske in the Krasnopillia community. In Kharkiv region, enemy activity is focused not only on the Vovchansk direction but also near the settlements of Sotnytsky Kozachok and Dvorichanske.

The occupiers are employing small assault groups, avoiding the use of armoured vehicles. Despite repeated attempts to advance, they are failing to reach their objectives and are taking heavy losses.

Vyacheslav Fedorchenko, inspector of the Rapid Response Brigade “Pomsta,” says that enemy activity on the Kupiansk front is strategically significant. He notes that capturing Kupiansk could provide Russian forces a route toward Kharkiv and the rear areas of Ukrainian troops in Donbas.

Fedorchenko stresses that Kupiansk remains a key logistical hub and a crucial defensive line, stopping the enemy from crossing the Oskil River.
