Russia shelled Odesa region with drones and missiles: what was hit and what is the aftermath
The Russians have once again attacked Odesa region.
The aftermath of the attack on Chornomorsk
In Odesa, the enemy targeted port infrastructure with a missile the day before, and "Shaheds" struck residential buildings. Debris from a downed drone landed on the balcony of an apartment in a high-rise in Chornomorsk, igniting the facade from the fourth to the sixth floor.
This was reported by TSN correspondent Serhiy Osadchuk.
The day before, powerful explosions rocked Odesa. The enemy hit the port infrastructure with an "Iskander" missile. At that moment, a ship named "Optima," flying the Palauan flag, was loading grain. As a result of the explosion, one Ukrainian sailor was killed on board, and four foreign crew members were injured.
The aftermath of the Russian shelling
At night, the occupiers launched drones at Chornomorsk. Debris hit a high-rise building. A part of a downed "Shahed" crashed into the apartment of Ms. Anzhela on the fifth floor. Fuel spilled out and ignited from the heated engine. The balcony caught fire first, followed by two neighboring apartments. People were sleeping at that moment, but upon smelling the acrid smoke, they began to search for an exit.
"We had just fallen into a deep sleep. We are in shock. We’re just relieved that it ended like this. Everything was already burning, and we heard shouting. We had to escape, and the neighbors rushed out to the hallway," Anzhela Kobernyk says.
Once outside, she saw the facade of the high-rise ablaze. Both her family and the neighbors managed to get out.

"Everyone was moving towards the exit somehow. I don’t know, it was as if God was guiding us. The balcony completely burned out. The firefighters even came, and they said a part of the "Shahed" engine was left there. They said they would take it away later," Anzhela Kobernyk says.
As soon as the rescuers extinguished the flames, law enforcement and utility workers arrived on the scene. The former documented the aftermath of the war crime, while the latter assessed the damaged housing and decided where to relocate residents.
"There are probably two or even three apartments severely damaged. Others are livable. We do it this way: if there’s nowhere to live, we provide people with financial assistance for three months of rent. This is our practice, so they don’t have to look for somewhere else. People search themselves, and the executive committee pays for it," Chornomorsk Mayor Vasyl Huliaiev says.
After inspecting all the apartments, utility workers will begin to cover the damaged balconies and facade with plastic sheeting and plywood to prevent rain from flooding the damaged homes until repairs are made.
