Russian Forces Are Unlikely to Leave Southern Ukraine - Russian Ambassador
The Russia’s Ambassador to United Kingdom warned about potential escalation of the full-scale invasion, if the inflow of weapon to Kyiv continues.
As Andrey Kelin, the Russia’s Ambassador to United Kingdom, said in his interview foe Reuters, the Russian Federation has no intention to withdraw its troops from Russian-controlled southern parts of Ukraine even after seizure of Donbas.
When asked how the conflict might end, Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin said it was difficult to see Russian and Russian-backed forces withdrawing from the south of Ukraine.
"We are going to liberate all of the Donbas. Of course it is difficult to predict the withdrawal of our forces from the southern part of Ukraine because we have already experience that after withdrawal, provocations start and all the people are being shot and all that", he said.
Previously, the military expert Neil Melvin from Royal Joint Institute for the Armed Forces (UK) expressed an opinion, that the decisive battle for Ukraine is likely to take place not in the east, where Russia is striking, but in the south, where Ukraine launched a counteroffensive to retake the territory.
"Ukrainians are advancing around Kherson. Counterattacks are starting there, and I think we will most likely see momentum shift to Ukraine as it tries to launch a large-scale counter-offensive to push back the Russians", he said.
